Alice Guo To Snub Future Hearings on Illegal POGOs in PH

Suspended Bamban Mayor Alice Guo No Longer Consider Attending Senate Hearings

ALICE GUO – The camp of the suspended Mayor of Bamban, Tarlac said that she ruled out attending future Senate hearings.

The illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming operations in the Philippines is one of the loudest issues in the country now. A few known individuals were invited in the Senate for the hearing in line with the investigation of the illegal POGO operations.

One of those who are facing allegations of POGO involvement is suspended Bamban Mayor Alice Guo. She is also accused of being a Chinese national after her fingerprints matched with the fingerprints of Guo Huaping, a Chinese national who entered the country in 2003.

The matching of Mayor Guo and Guo Huaping’s fingerprints suggest that they are the same person. There are a lot of questions for the suspended mayor but she is currently nowhere to be found.

Guo has a pending arrest order issued by the Senate. The Mayor was cited for contempt after skipping two Senate hearings set last June 26 and July 10. Prior to the July 10 inquiry set by the upper chamber, the lawyer of the suspended Mayor claimed that Guo is “traumatized” by how she was treated in previous hearings.

Attorney Stephen David also said that the Mayor is both physically and emotionally drained from the many allegations against her. Mayor Alice Guo previously posted a statement where she said that she is choosing her health and her peace of mind.

Guo said that she is ready to face the accusations with evidence “at a proper forum”. She maintained her stand that she is innocent from the allegations against her. She also skipped the July 29 hearing set by the Senate for the illegal POGO investigation.

Based on a report on ANC, Mayor Alice Guo’s lawyer Attorney Stephen David said that the Mayor has ruled out attending future Senate hearings. Her camp also reacted to the suggestion of the Commission on Election’s law department to file a material misrepresentation complaint against her.

The camp of Mayor Guo believes it is a “premature” move to file a misrepresentation complaint against her. Senator Risa Hontiveros encourages the Mayor to surface for her peace of mind. Her lawyer previously hoped that she will appear at the Senate for her to avoid being tagged as “fugitive”.
