PAGASA Says Habagat to Prevail Over Parts of PH

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that the southwest monsoon will bring isolated rains over parts of the country.

On Wednesday (July 31, 2024), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The weaker habagat will affect the country’s weather conditions.

PAGASA weather forecaster Benison Estareja reported that the southwest monsoon will bring cloudy skies with isolated rain showers over the western sections of Northern and Central Luzon.

The southwest monsoon will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Zambales, and Bataan.

Flash floods or landslides are possible during severe thunderstorms.

The localized thunderstorms will bring similar weather conditions over the remaining parts of the country.

Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao will be slight to moderate. No gale warning was raised over any of the country’s seaboards.

PAGASA also announced that two to three tropical cyclones are expected to form or enter the Philippine area of responsibility in August. However, no tropical cyclones are expected this weekend.

Sa buwan ng Agosto, inaasahan natin ang dalawa o tatlong bagyo na mabubuo o papasok sa Philippine area of responsibility,” weather specialist Obet Badrina said.

“Butchoy” and “Carina” struck the country in July.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said that the combined effects of Typhoon Carina and enhanced habagat resulted in the death of 39 persons.
