Vice Pres. Duterte resigned from being the DepEd Secretary and the vice chairperson of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC). Philippine National Police (PNP) Rommel Marbil said that the removal of the 75 cops were coordinated with the Office of the Vice President (OVP).

Marbil said that there is an insufficient number of cops in the National Capital Region thus, some of those cops relieved will be transferred. However, recently, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte denied that there was a request to the OVP regarding the relief of the security detail assigned to her.

Vice Pres. Sara Duterte claimed that no request was made over the relief of the 75 cops assigned for her security. According to the Vice President in an open letter she issued, the OVP was only informed and they did not bother to argue against the decision of the PNP.

Duterte also reacted to Marbil’s claim that they don’t see any threat against the Vice President. She recalled the recent viral photos of her and her family at the airport before they left for a personal trip abroad. The OVP confirmed that Vice Pres. Duterte flew abroad amid the lashing of Typhoon Carina.

Vice Pres. Duterte stressed that the Vice Presidential Protection Division (VPPD) was created so the PNP does not have to interfere over the vice president’s security detail. In her open letter, she claimed that many of those who were relieved were trusted security detail of hers ever since.

Furthermore, the Vice President also claimed that most of those who were relieved and re-assigned to the National Capital Region are from Mindanao. She stressed that there is also an insufficient police population in Mindanao.

According to Vice Pres. Sara Duterte, her bottom line is that PNP Chief Rommel Marbil will no longer mention her in his interviews. She stressed that as public servants, they must first attend to helping the typhoon victims and mourn with those who loss their loved ones. Here’s the open letter of the Vice President:
