Several LGUs Announce Class Suspensions for Friday (July 26, 2024)

WALANG PASOK – Some local government units have declared class suspensions due to the effects of Typhoon Carina and habagat.

In recent days, Typhoon Carina and the enhanced southwest monsoon have brought heavy rains, causing massive flooding in various parts of the National Capital Region. This flooding has cause inconvenience for thousands of residents.

As Typhoon Carina has left the Philippine Area of Responsibility, the southwest monsoon continues to affect the region, bringing heavy rains and potential flooding.

Class Suspensions

Due to the impact of Typhoon Carina and the southwest monsoon (habagat), many areas across the Philippines have announced class suspensions for Friday (July 26, 2024). This decision is to ensure everyone’s safety and allow time for recovery from the weather disturbances.

Education Secretary Sonny Angara also said that some schools will have to postpone the opening of classes to assess readiness for school opening

Some schools will really have to postpone their openings kasi maraming aayusin at lilinisin. Pero yung wala o minimal ang damages itutuloy pa rin ang pasukan,” Angara said.

  • Pasig City (all levels, public and private)
  • Valenzuela City (government offices only)

CALABARZON:

  • Laguna:
  • Biñan City (all levels, public and private)
  • San Pedro City (face-to-face classes only)
  • Rizal:
  • Cainta (all levels, public and private)

Central Luzon:

  • Angeles City (face-to-face classes, private schools only)
  • Bataan (all levels, public and private)
  • Bulacan (all levels, public and private; government offices)
  • Pampanga:
  • Minalin (all levels, public and private)
  • San Fernando City (all levels, public and private)

Tarlac

  • Capas (all levels, public and private)
  • Concepcion (all levels, public and private)
  • Paniqui (all levels, public and private)
  • Tarlac City (all levels, public and private; government offices)

Ilocos Region:

  • Dagupan City (all levels, public and private; government offices)
  • La Union (all levels, public and private; government offices)
  • Pangasinan (all levels, public and private)

Bicol Region:

  • Camarines Sur (all levels, public and private)

Muntinlupa City, however, has lifted its class suspension. Schools and government offices will resume normal operations.

The authorities advised the public to stay safe and keep updated with local announcements for any further changes.
