Bacalso also apologized to the other staff members affected by the incident and acknowledged that she may have overstepped in trying to educate on gender sensitivity.

“This is a huge chunk of humble pie that I must ingest, because I have erred. May we start here with, as the supervisor pointed out, an uphill path to reconciliation and we hope you will be able to allow us and yourselves to do so unhampered so we may all learn and heal from this,” she said.

  1. Being misgendered may leave the person feeling disrespected. This can be distressing and threaten the person’s mental health. Most incident of being misgendered is accidental in nature especially from waiters/ waitresses. Addressing the issue with the waiter right away was acceptable but letting him stand for 2 hours was uncalled for. Jude could have told the waiter to leave while waiting for the input from the management. Let the management take care of the issue.
