80-Year-Old Man Repairs Broken Umbrellas to Buy Basic Necessities
An 80-year-old man goes viral and touches many hearts for fixing broken umbrellas by the side of the road to survive.
The hardworking grandpa used to be a farmer in Central Luzon but was forced to leave the province and try his luck in Manila.
In his younger days, Lolo Teodoro was a strong and hardworking man. He would plant rice and plow fields from morning till night. However, when his wife left him and moved to Manila, he also decided to follow, hoping for a better and more comfortable life in the city.
Unfortunately, life in Manila did not turn out as he had hoped. He took on various jobs but none provided stability. He ended up homeless and without a permanent place to stay. Due to his age, fixing broken umbrellas became his only means of survival.
Lolo Teodoro shared that he’s lucky if he gets one umbrella to repair each day, as the demand for this kind of work is very low. He relies heavily on the kindness of strangers who pass by and offer help.
Grateful for their generosity, he expressed his deep appreciation for those who assisted him. He dreams of having enough food to eat every day and being able to buy his maintenance medication.
“Labis ang pasasalamat ko sa mga taong may mabuting kalooban na tumutulong sa isang matanda na katulad ko. Ang hiling ko na lang ngayon ay magkaroon ako ng makakain araw-araw at magkaroon ng pambili ng aking maintenance,” Lolo Teodoro said.
For the senior citizen, the simple act of fixing an umbrella is not just a job but his lifeline, allowing him to get by one day at a time.
