Sara Duterte Opts Out of Campaigning for Marcos & Allies in 2025 Elections

SARA DUTERTE – Vice President Sara Duterte stated that she is no longer interested in campagning for President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s Cabinet.

On Thursday, Vice President Sara Duterte expressed that she no longer wishes to serve in President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s Cabinet in any other capacity. Inday Sara also mentioned that she has turned down invitations from both President Marcos and her father to campaign for their respective senatorial slates in the 2025 elections, stating that she is still considering her future direction.

Sara shared that before her resignation, Marcos had invited her to a meeting, requesting her assistance in supporting the administration’s senatorial candidates. “I think President Marcos will also confirm this… I told him I will not participate yet in the midterm elections,” Duterte told reporters.

Sara Duterte further explained that a chance meeting with her father led to a similar request for her to campaign for the senatorial candidates of the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino, her father’s political party.

“I also told him that I would not participate in the midterm elections. I still need to think about my direction for the midterm elections that’s why I can’t give an answer yet to the two of them on what I’ll be doing,” Duterte said in Filipino.

According to the report, Sara Duterte mentioned that she had arranged a meeting with Senators Bong Go and Ronald dela Rosa after Marcos’ State of the Nation Address for a thorough discussion between the three of them.

There is interest in some quarters for the vice president’s participation in the midterm elections, as she not only has considerable political influence but also founded the regional party Hugpong ng Pagbabago, which achieved significant success in the last midterm senatorial elections.
