A public school teacher, Joemar Abayon Develos, shared his heartfelt story on TikTok about how he had to borrow money to help his father renew his license. The video garnered various reactions from the online community.
At 26, Joemar is the breadwinner for his family and faces the challenges and sacrifices that come with it. He recalled the day his father asked him for P1,000 to renew his license.
Despite his exhaustion, he agreed. However, early the next morning, his father informed him that he actually needed P2,000. Frustrated and tired, Joemar snapped at his father, reminding him of the financial burdens he was already carrying, including paying over P30,000 for his younger sibling’s nursing school tuition.
Feeling guilty for his outburst, Develos reached out to his friend JR and borrowed the money. He couldn’t bear to let his father down. After giving his father the needed P2,000, he bursts into tears, realizing that fulfilling his parents’ needs was something he had always wished for.
The breadwinner teacher shared that his parents have always been good to him, making it difficult to refuse their requests. His father is a tricycle driver, and his mother sells breakfast food. Joemar has three siblings, all in college, including his youngest sibling studying nursing.

The hardworking guy also shared the struggles of being a breadwinner, balancing his responsibilities while pursuing a master’s degree. The financial strain made it especially hard when his father asked for money, but Joemar managed to find a way.
Joemar encourages his fellow breadwinners to stay strong and keep their faith. He emphasized that their sacrifices and hard work would eventually pay off, and reminded them to trust in a higher power, as they can’t do it alone.
