Sen. Gatchalian Believes Mayor Alice Guo Is In Hiding
ALICE GUO – The authorities failed to locate the suspended Bamban, Tarlac Mayor in all her registered addresses as well as garment factories.
Suspended Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Guo is currently facing several allegations — from her alleged involvement to the illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming operations to her identity. According to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), the fingerprints of Mayor Guo matched with the fingerprints of Guo Hua Ping.
The matching of the fingerprints between Mayor Guo and Guo Hua Ping, a Chinese national, suggest that they are the same person. Thus, in most legal documents issued to the suspended Mayor, she is also addressed as Guo Hua Ping.
Mayor Guo is also being questioned about her wealth after billions were deposited to her accounts from 2019. The Court of Appeals issued a Freeze Order on the assets of Mayor Guo and several others who are accused of being involved with the illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming operations.
Last July 10, a Senate hearing was set but Mayor Guo skipped the hearing. According to her lawyer, the suspended Bamban, Tarlac Mayor is allegedly “traumatized” by how she was dealt with and she is physically and emotionally drained from the accusations against her.
Senator Risa Hontiveros reminded them of their obligation to respect the Philippine laws. According to Senate President Chiz Escudero, it is not the call of the person being summoned to decide whether or not he/she will attend the hearing.
Mayor Alice Guo was cited in contempt following her absence from the Senate hearing last June 26 and July 10. An arrest order was issued against the suspended Mayor and seven (7) other individuals.
The arrest order against Mayor Alice Guo was served by the Senate’s Office of the Sergeant-at-Arms (OSAA). However, there was negative presence except for Nancy Gamo, the accountant of the Mayor.
Recently, Senator Sherwin Gatchalian spoke on the serving of the arrest order against Mayor Guo. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the Senator revealed that the authorities visited all her registered addresses as well as her garments factories but they failed to locate her.
The authorities also visited the buildings and structures in the QJJ Farm of Guo in Tarlac but she was not there. Based on the report, her siblings are also nowhere to be found. Sen. Gatchalian believes that the suspended Mayor is in hiding right now.
According to the Senator, he believes that the Mayor wants to evade arrest but based on the information they got, she is still in the country. He stressed that there is a hold departure order against the Mayor so she cannot fly out from the Philippines.
