PAGASA Says Habagat to Affect PH Weather Condition

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that the southwest monsoon will bring scattered rains over parts of the country.

On Saturday (July 13, 2024), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The southwest monsoon will affect the country’s weather conditions.

PAGASA weather specialist Grace Castañeda reported that Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over the western sections of Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

“Patuloy pa ring umiiral ang Southwest Monsoon o habagat dito sa kanlurang bahagi ng Southern Luzon, Visayas, at Mindanao kung saan ngayong araw ay magdadala pa rin ito ng malalakas na pag-ulan lalong lalo na yan sa may kanlurang bahagi Visayas, at Mindanao,” said Castañeda.

Western and Central Visayas, Palawan including Kalayaan Islands, and Occidental Mindoro will experience similar weather conditions.

Habagat will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over Metro Manila, the rest of MIMAROPA, Batangas, Cavite, and Laguna.

The localized thunderstorms will bring similar weather conditions over the rest of the country.

The weather agency advised the residents in the affected areas to take precautionary measures for possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to heavy rains and severe thunderstorms.

“Sa kasalukuyan naman po ay wala tayong minomonitor o namataan pang sama ng panahon na marri pang makaapekto sa ating bansa ngunit mayroon tayong minomonitor na mga cloud clusters dito yan sa may kanlurang bahagi ng Palawan sa labas ng PAR, maging dito sa silangang bahagi ng Mindanao,” she added.

Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over western sections of Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao will be moderate to rough. Slight to moderate surrounding sea conditions.

PAGASA did not raise a gale warning over any of the country’s seaboard.
