Lineman in Davao del Norte Got Electrocuted After Power Supply Suddenly Restored Amid Repair of Electrical Pole

A lineman was electrocuted while repairing a damaged post after the power supply was suddenly restored.

Electrocution refers to injury or death caused by electric shock, typically resulting from contact with an electrical source. The term is derived from “electric” and “execution,” originally implying a fatal incident, but it is also used to describe non-fatal electrical injuries.

Electrocution can cause various harmful effects, including burns, cardiac arrest, and damage to internal organs and tissues. The severity of electrocution depends on factors such as the voltage, duration of contact, and path of the electric current through the body.

Working on electrical poles involves various tasks related to the maintenance, repair, and installation of power lines and other equipment. It is an important job that requires skill, caution, and a commitment to safety.

In Purok Maharlika, Cuambogan, Tagum City, Davao del Norte, a lineman was left hanging from an electric pole after being electrocuted. According to reports, the Northern Davao Electric Cooperative (NORDECO) had scheduled a 12-hour power interruption on Saturday, July 6, 2024.

The victim, who was part of a contractor team and a resident of New Bataan, Davao de Oro, was working on the power line when the electricity supply unexpectedly returned, causing him to be electrocuted.

Witnesses reported that the lineman briefly lost consciousness after the shock. His colleagues immediately rushed to help him, using a boom truck to carefully lower him to the ground.

The lineman was quickly taken to Davao Regional Medical Center in Tagum City, where he was treated for burns on his body. Relatives clarified that he is alive and recovering in the hospital, following the outpouring of concern and sympathy from netizens.
