Sara Duterte Rejects Claims She Would Lead the Opposition

SARA DUTERTE – Vice president Sara Duterte rejected claims that she would lead the opposition.

Sara Duterte over the weekend dismissed allegations that she would lead the opposition against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s administration following her resignation from his Cabinet.

“Sa trabaho ko at sa pagkato ko at sa prinsipyo ko hindi ako gumalaw for the administration, for the opposition or anuman ang politka na yan, ang galaw ko ay base sa kung ano ang makakatulong sa ating mga kababayan,” she said.

The Vice President stepped down from her roles as head of the Department of Education and vice chairperson of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) due to strained relations between the Marcos and Duterte families.

Duterte has not suggested a replacement for the DepEd Secretary, emphasizing that the President should choose someone he trusts and has confidence in.

“Dapat talaga yan pinili ng pangulo dahil dapat yan pinagkakatiwalaan ng pangulo,” she said.+

In her remaining days as DepEd Secretary, she committed to attending all national events in Cebu in July, including the Palarong Pambansa, National Learners’ Convergence, National Learning Camp, National Festival of Talents, National Schools Press Conference, and Brigada Eskwela.

She mentioned that she has prepared all the necessary documents for the transition to the next DepEd chief.

The Vice President confirmed that her brothers and former President Rodrigo Duterte are considering running for Senate seats.

“As far as I know, if I talk to the group of former President Rodrigo Duterte, they would say they are ready to run,” she said.

She added that the slate would include other reelectionist senators from the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino (PDP).

The Vice President clarified that she has no plans to join them as she is not a member of PDP or any national party, and is only affiliated with Hugpong ng Pagbabago at the local level and Hugpong ng Taong Lungsod in Davao City.
