Alleged Snatcher Grabs Student’s Wallet in Albay, Cops Arrest Suspect
An alleged snatcher who grabbed a student’s wallet was cornered in the middle of the road in Daraga, Albay.
A snatcher is a person who steals items, typically by grabbing them quickly from someone, often in public places. Snatchers commonly target items like wallets, purses, phones, or jewelry.
This type of theft is usually done swiftly and unexpectedly, making it difficult for the victim to react immediately. They typically use a “grab and run” technique, snatching valuables from their victims and then fleeing rapidly.
Snatchers often target items that are easy to grab, such as handbags, purses, mobile phones, wallets, jewelry, and other valuable items.
Recently, a snatching incident was captured on CCTV footage, showing the suspect running across the street before being apprehended by local residents and Public Safety Office personnel.
The Daraga Police reported that the suspect had been following the student. When they reached a spot without CCTV coverage, the suspect seized the student’s wallet containing more than P5,000 and fled.
The student managed to call for help, leading to a chase. The suspect was quickly cornered and captured by several locals, including Dioscoro Romasanta, a parking assistant.
“Nang nakita ko na, hinuli ko na lang bigla, ‘di ko naman nakita kung may patalim o anuman basta siya hinuli ko,” Romasanta said.
The suspect is now in police custody and has not provided a statement regarding the incident.
