Police Authorities Arrest 3 Men for Robbing Motorcycle Taxi Rider in Quezon City
Three men were arrested by the police authorities after robbing a motorcycle taxi rider in Novaliches, Quezon City.
On Wednesday early morning (June 26, 2024), the victim, Anthony Peliglorio, was returning home with his nephew after buying porridge when the suspects, who were on a motorcycle, stopped them in Barangay Bagbag.
“Tinutukan po kami ng baril. Noong nakuha po yung wallet ko na walang laman ibinalik po sa akin tapos pinilit na agawin yung motor,” Peliglorio recalled.
Peliglorio managed to alert the police immediately, leading to the arrest of one of the suspects around 2 AM.
The police also seized the motorcycle used by the suspects in the robbery. Upon investigation, it was discovered that this motorcycle had been stolen from another victim in Barangay San Bartolome.
“Upon custodial investigation meron dumating na nagrereport na nawawalan ng motor. Upon sa verification sa motor na gamit ng isa sa mga suspek lumalabas yung motor na yon ang nawawala,” said Novaliches Police Station Commander PLtCol. Reynaldo Vitto.
The police conducted a follow-up operation and arrested the other two suspects within a few hours. They recovered the motorcycle belonging to Peliglorio, who expressed immense relief as he relies on it to support his wife and four children.
Peliglorio mentioned that the motorcycle was not yet fully paid off. “Diyan lang po ako kumukuha ng panggastos ng pamilya ko eh,” he said.

The authorities also seized an improvised handgun loaded with bullets from the suspects.
The suspects are neighbors in Novaliches and reportedly have a history of motorcycle theft in the area. Further investigation revealed that they had been previously incarcerated for robbery, motorcycle theft, illegal gambling, and one of them for illegal drugs.
“Ang kanilang previous case is robbery, pagnanakaw din ng motor, then illegal gambling then yung isa illegal drugs,” Vitto confirmed.
Two of the suspects admitted to the robbery, with one claiming it was because he needed money for his birthday celebration. However, the first suspect arrested denied any involvement.
The three suspects now face charges of robbery, violation of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, and two counts of violation of the New Anti-Carnapping Act.
