Andi Eigenmann Remembers Her Tita Cherie Gil, Pens Sweet Message

Here’s a short but sweet message Andi Eigenmann penned for her late Tita Cherie Gil.

In an Instagram post, Andi Eigenmann remembered her Aunt Cherie Gil and this is the message she wrote for her.

‘Oro, Plata, Mata’ and ‘Bituing Walang Ningning’ are just some of the most iconic projects of late actress Cherie Gil. She is the country’s La Primera Contravida and is well-loved for how well she played the antagonistic roles given to her.

The showbiz icon died in 2022 and she was 59 years old. She died after battling endometrial cancer after being diagnosed with the disease in 2021. It was her request for her diagnosis to be kept and opted to receive treatment in New York.

Endometrial cancer is a type of cancer that affects the endometrium, or the lining of the uterus. This disease mostly affects post-menopausal women and it is uncommon among women aged 45 and below.

Roughly two years after her death, Andi shared a post about her. She posted a photo with her late aunt when they explored the Siargao Island together. The photo was taken when they visited the Magpupungko Rock Pools indicating that it was one of the best memories she had with the late actress.

“Remembering you in my life’s little moment always, remembering you more today on your birthday. I love you always Tita Cherie. Thank you for always being there for me,” she wrote in the post.

She is now based in Siargao and already established a simple and happy island life there with her children and soon-to-be husband Philmar Alipayo.
