Teresa Loyzaga Admits She Sent Son Diego to Rehab for Drug Use
TERESA LOYZAGA – Veteran actress Teresa Loyzaga confessed that she sent her son Diego Loyzafa to rehab due to his drug use.
Teresa Loyzaga is a Filipino actress known for her work in television and film. Loyzaga was born on May 15, 1957, in the Philippines. She is of Spanish descent, with her father being Spanish.
Loyzaga became known for her roles in various Filipino television series and movies. Her acting career spans several decades, beginning in the 1970s. She has appeared in numerous TV dramas and soap operas, showcasing her versatility as an actress. Some of her notable television appearances include roles in shows like “Pangako Sa ‘Yo,” “Saan Ka Man Naroroon,” and “Florinda.”
Teresa Loyzaga is also known for being the mother of hunk actor Diego Loyzaga, who has followed in her footsteps in the entertainment industry.
Loyzaga disclosed that she was the one who made the decision to enroll her son Diego in rehabilitation due to his drug use.
During a recent episode of “Fast Talk With Boy Abunda,” the actress candidly discussed her relationship with her son, including her choice to send him to a rehab center.
Teresa said that she held herself responsible for Diego’s situation.
“There was a part of me that died, but I wanted my son to live. So I had to put him on rehab,” Teresa said.
Teresa Loyzaga acknowledged that Diego was upset with her at the time she made that decision.
“He wasn’t himself then. We have to understand na ‘yung mga mahal natin sa buhay kapag ka nalulong sa droga, pag kinakausap mo sila at binabastos ka nila, hindi sila ‘yon,” the veteran actress said.
After Diego completed his rehabilitation and returned, he finally understood his mother’s decision. Throughout the eight months of Diego’s rehab, Teresa revealed she visited him without his knowledge.
“Hindi rin niya alam is bumibisita ako lagi sa kaniya, kahit na bawal kami magkita. That was a part of his punishment for him to learn, to appreciate home, family,” she said.
“Napapanood ko siya sa isang maliit na monitor. Kung nasaan siya sa loob, kung kumakain siya. Nagpapadala ako ng pagkain,” she added.
Teresa also recounted the difficult times when a tarpaulin was the only barrier between them.
“May butas ‘yong tarpaulin. Sabi sa akin, ‘you have to promise na tatahimik ka, hindi ka magpaparamdam.’ Sabi ko ‘promise, gusto ko lang talaga makalapit.’ Pagitan lang namin tarpaulin, nakasilip lang ako sa butas para makita ang anak ko. Ang hirap,” the actress said.
In a previous interview on “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda,” Diego shared that rehab had profoundly changed his life for the better. He also opened up about his experiences while in rehab.
Diego is the son of Teresa Loyzaga and Cesar Montano. Diego has a daughter named Hailey, who celebrated her first birthday in May.
