PAGASA Says LPA to Affect PH Weather Condition

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that a low-pressure area will bring rains over parts of the country.

On Tuesday (June 11, 2024), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. A low-pressure area will affect the country’s weather conditions.

PAGASA weather specialist Rhea Torres reported that a Low-Pressure Area (LPA) was last spotted 145 kilometers west-northwest of Butuan City, Agusan del Norte, or over the coastal waters of Garcia Hernandez, Bohol.

Sa ngayon, mababa ang tiyansa na ito ay maging isang bagyo, at posible na malusaw o mag-dissipate ngayong araw,” Torres said

The LPA will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Eastern Visayas, Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, and Agusan del Norte.

The weather agency has advised the public of possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains.

The LPA has a slim chance of developing into a tropical depression but may dissipate in a few hours.  “Possible na magdala ito ng pag-ulan sa Kabisayaan at Mindanao,” she added.

The localized thunderstorms will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.

“Sa nalalabing bahagi ng ating bansa, mainit na panahon pa rin ang mararanansan lalong-lalo na sa tanghali, ngunit may tiyansa pa din ng mga isolated thunderstorms kadalasan sa hapon o sa gabi,” Torres explained.

Flash floods or landslides are possible during severe thunderstorms.

The coastal water condition over Luzon and the remaining parts of the country will be slight to moderate, according to PAGASA.

According to PAGASA, the heat index in Metro Manila will range from 41 degrees Celsius at the Science Garden in Quezon City to 42 degrees Celsius at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), Pasay City station.

This puts the region between an extreme caution and danger category. The heat index falls between 33°C and 41°C under the extreme caution level and between 42°C and 51°C under the danger level.
