Hardworking Mother Works 12 Hours/Day at Burger Store for Just P200

PWD EMPLOYEE – A hardworking mother with a disability works 12 hours a day at a burger store for just P200.

Recently, the Facebook page “vibrance” shared photos of a hardworking mother with a disability who works 12 hours a day for just P200. The post garnered various reactions from the online community.

Agnes Perez, a PWD from Mexico, Pampanga, works long hours as a burger machine vendor but earns far below the minimum wage. Miranda Ramos, who shared the post, expressed her sympathy for Agnes.

Ramos described seeing Agnes exhausted and sweaty at her job, working long hours for a well-known burger chain. She works more than the standard employee hours, earning only P200 a day. After deducting her P80 round trip fare, she’s left with just P120.

“200 daw sya 12hrs taga mexico pampanga pa si ate at eto namang mt carmel located pa siya sa Sanguin Pampanga. So kung magcocommute sya bali 80 pesos kaya 120 nalang daw nauuwi nya. Kaya ginagawa ni ate yung kapalitan nya may tricycle dun nadaw sya natutulog sa tricycle,” Miranda wrote in her post.

Despite the low pay, Agnes has accepted her situation, believing she is too old and uneducated to find a better job. She also worries that her speech impairment might make it difficult for others to understand her.

“Sabi namin bat dika maghanap ng ibang trabaho kase napakababa nahihiya daw sya dahil may mga tao na di nakakaintindi sa salita nya. Saka matanda naren daw sya at di nakapag aral,” Miranda added.

The hardworking mom’s story shows the struggles faced by individuals with disabilities and those earning below minimum wage.
