Angpao, traditional red envelopes often containing money, are usually given during special occasions like Chinese New Year, weddings, and graduations.
Recently, a TikTok user named @jiyan_07 shared a heartwarming video of a grandma who made a unique money garland for her grandchild using an ‘angpao’ envelope. The post garnered widespread attention and eliciting various reactions online.
In the viral video, the grandmother, affectionately referred to as Lola, can be seen preparing for a visit to her grandchild, TinTin. She asked, “Samahan mo ko kay TinTin mamaya ha, may isusuot ako sa kanya di masyado klaro sakin mukha niya e baka sa iba ko masuot.”
The uploader decided to film the moment out of curiosity. Initially, the latter was unsure of what Lola intended to give, suspecting it might be a candy garland, a common gift idea.
However, when Lola pulled out a money garland from her wallet, carefully crafted with angpao envelopes tied together with string, it was an emotional surprise.
