Young Boy Predicts Eruption of Mt. Kanlaon, Lady Netizen Claims
A young boy has gone viral online after reportedly predicting the eruption of Mt. Kanlaon on the island of Negros.
Recently, Ross Espartero Mejica, a Facebook user, recounted how her child’s eerie prediction about Mt. Kanlaon became a reality. The post immediately spread like wildfire on social media and elicited reactions from the netizens.
On the afternoon of June 3, 2024, Mejica and her family were traveling home from La Castellana when their vehicle suddenly had a flat tire, forcing them to stop by the roadside. As they waited for the tire to be fixed, they admired the scenic view of Mt. Kanlaon.
Ross described how they all stood by the car, enjoying the beauty of the volcano, which had a distinct cone shape and a glowing summit. It was then that her child, Yoyo, made a startling statement.
As they stood there, Yoyo turned to Ross and said, “Ma! Malupok bala ang Volcano.” (Mom! The volcano is going to erupt). Despite the serious expression on Yoyo’s face, Ross initially dismissed the comment, thinking it was just a child’s imagination.
Ross even responded with a smile, asking how Yoyo knew this and if someone had told him. Yoyo, looking sad, insisted, “Oo ma.” She and her companions laughed off the comment at the time, not giving it much thought.
However, later that evening, when news broke about the actual eruption of Mt. Kanlaon, Ross was struck with a wave of goosebumps, recalling Yoyo’s words and feeling a chill as he remembered her child’s serious demeanor earlier that day.
The Facebook post quickly went viral, with many people sharing their amazement and disbelief. Some users even shared their own stories of children making unexpected predictions.
Whether it was an extraordinary coincidence or an instance of child intuition, Yoyo’s prediction of the Mt. Kanlaon eruption caught the attention of the online community.
