PAGASA Releases Latest Weather Update for Friday (May 31, 2024)
PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that fair weather is expected to prevail over most parts of the country.
On Friday (May 31, 2024), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. A tropical depression, habagat, and frontal system will affect the country’s weather conditions.
PAGASA Aldczar Aurelio reported that the frontal system will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers over extreme Northern Luzon. An active tropical cyclone is being monitored outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility.
Fair weather conditions are expected over most parts of the country. However, chances of scattered rain due to thunderstorms are still expected.
The tropical depression is located 955 kilometers west of northern Luzon packing maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour with gustiness of up to 55 kph. It is moving at 10 kph in a west-northwest direction.
“Ang pagkilos ng bagyong ito ay inaasahang patungo sa China samantala itong habagat o southwest monsoon ay unti-unting lumalayo sa ating bansa dahil hinahatak ng tropical depression,” said aurelio.
The frontal system will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Batanes and Babuyan Islands. Flash floods or landslides are possible in these areas due to moderate to at times heavy rains.
The localized thunderstorms will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over Metro Manila and the rest of the country. Flash floods or landslides are expected during severe thunderstorms.
Meanwhile, the coastal water condition throughout the country will be slight to moderate, according to PAGASA.

- Baguio City: 18 to 24 degrees Celsius
- Laoag City: 25 to 34 degrees Celsius
- Tuguegarao: 25 to 36 degrees Celsius

- Puerto Princesa City: 26 to 32 degrees Celsius
- Tagaytay: 24 to 32 degrees Celsius
- Kalayaan Islands: 26 to 32 degrees Celsius
- Iloilo City: 27 to 33 degrees Celsius
- Cebu: 27 to 32 degrees Celsius
- Tacloban City: 28 to 32 degrees Celsius
- Cagayan De Oro City: 25 to 32 degrees Celsius
- Zamboanga City: 26 to 35 degrees Celsius
- Davao City: 27 to 34 degrees Celsius
