Several LGUs Declare Class Suspensions for Monday (May 27, 2024) Due to Tropical Storm Aghon

WALANG PASOK – Various local government units across Luzon declared class suspensions due to the inclement weather.

On Monday (May 27, 2024), several areas in Luzon have opted to suspend face-to-face classes due to the inclement weather brought about by severe tropical storm Aghon. The weather disturbance will bring heavy rains and flooding.

According to the latest bulletin, Aghon internationally known as Ewiniar has intensified while moving north-northeast across northern Luzon. It was last spotted at 90 kilometers east-southeast of Baler, Aurora.

Class Suspensions

Aghon has maximum sustained winds near the center were recorded at 130 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 160 kph. The tropical storm is accompanied by strong to typhoon-force winds extending outward up to 220 kilometers from its center

The adverse conditions prompted several local government units to cancel classes across various regions due to the rains and flooding.

Metro Manila

  • Las Piñas City: No face-to-face classes for all levels, both public and private.
  • Malabon City: No face-to-face classes for all levels, both public and private.
  • Valenzuela City: Classes canceled for kinder to senior high school, both public and private. Tertiary-level classes will proceed online.

Provinces

  • Aurora: No face-to-face classes for all levels, both public and private. Government work is suspended except for essential services such as health, peace and order, and disaster response.
  • Batangas: No face-to-face classes for all levels, both public and private.
  • Laguna: No face-to-face classes for all levels, both public and private.
  • Quezon: No face-to-face classes for all levels. Government work is suspended except for essential services such as health, peace and order, and disaster response.
Class Suspensions

On Sunday evening (May 26, 2024), Aghon made its initial landfall over Patnanungan Island in Quezon prompting the issuance of Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 3 over the Polillo Islands.
