PAGASA Says Easterlies to Affect PH Weather Condition

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that easterlies will bring isolated rains over parts of the country.

On Wednesday (May 22, 2024), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The easterlies will affect the country’s weather conditions.

PAGASA reported that easterlies will continue to bring cloudy skies with isolated rains over the country.

The easterlies will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over the Bicol Region, Northern Samar, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, and Romblon.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience similar weather conditions.

The weather agency also reported that 44 areas may experience a dangerous heat index. Virac (Synop), Catanduanes; Roxas City, Capiz; and Butuan City, Agusan del Norte are expected to experience a heat index of 46ºC.

Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), Pasay City station, and the Science Garden in Quezon City are expected to experience a heat index of 43 degrees Celsius. Metro Manila will be placed at a dangerous heat index level.

The weather bureau has advised the public to take precautionary measures against heat cramps, heat exhaustion, and heat stroke. Filipinos are instructed to stay hydrated, wear heat protective gear, limit outdoor activities, and refrain from drinking sodas, coffee, or alcoholic drinks to avoid heat-related illnesses.

Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over Northern and Central Luzon as well as the remaining parts of the country will be slight to moderate. PAGASA did not raise a gale warning in any seaboards of the country.
