PAGASA Says Shear Line and Easterlies to Affect PH Weather Condition

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that shear line and easterlies will bring scattered rain showers over parts of the country.

On Monday (May 20, 2024), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The shear line and easterlies will affect the country’s weather conditions.

PAGASA reported that the shear line continues to affect Extreme Northern Luzon on Monday and will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Batanes.

Possible flash floods or landslides are expected in these areas due to moderate to at times heavy rains

The easterlies will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over Metro Manila and the rest of the country. Flash floods or landslides are possible during severe thunderstorms.

The coastal water condition throughout the country will be slight to moderate.

Meanwhile, thirty-five areas in the country may reach a dangerous heat index level. Four areas are expected to reach the highest heat index at 46°C.

  • ISU Echague, Isabela (43°C)
  • Puerto Princesa City, Palawan (43°C)
  • Cuyo, Palawan (43°C)
  • Mambusao, Capiz (43°C)
  • Catbalogan, Samar (43°C)
  • Dipolog, Zamboanga del Norte (43°C)
  • Laoag City, Ilocos Norte (42°C)

PAGASA also advised the public to take precautionary measures to avoid heat cramps and exhaustion and heat stroke due to dangerous heat index level.
