Good Samaritan Nurse Lost His Life After Being Shot While Helping Motorcycle Accident Victim
A Good samaritan nurse shot while helping motorcycle accident victim in Caloocan City, another person dies due to the incident.
On a Sunday night (April 28, 2024), two men lost their lives after being shot by a motorcycle rider in Barangay 173, North Caloocan. Among the casualties was Mark John Blanco, a nurse who selflessly rushed to assist the rider after his motorcycle crashed.
The incident happened as Blanco extended a helping hand to the rider, whose motorcycle had collided while navigating Congressional road, according to Caloocan Police Sub-Station 9 Commander Police Major Segundino Bulan.
Despite Blanco’s efforts to help him, the rider’s motorcycle failed to start after being set upright, sparking the suspect’s anger. Subsequently, the suspect shot Blanco in the head and arm.
“Naawa siya dahil nakita niya, tinulungan niya itong suspek na itayo ‘yung motor. Ngayon itong pagtayo ng motor hindi na mapaandar ng suspek ‘yung motor kaya siya nagalit sa biktima. Bakit daw hindi na umaandar ‘yung motor niya,” explained Police Major Bulan.
A female witness called for help, prompting another victim, a construction worker, to rush out of his home. However, he too was shot in the chest by the suspect.
CCTV footage revealed the suspect fleeing the scene quickly after the crime, but authorities managed to apprehend him after he collided with a vehicle.
“Bale po binallistic po ‘yung baril na narecover at nagmatch naman po doon sa mga bala naano sa katawan ng namatay,” stated Police Major Bulan.
The suspect, now detained at Caloocan Police Sub-station 9, claimed that he did not intend to shoot the victims.
“Hindi po. Humihingi ako ngayon ng tawad kahit kapalit ng buhay ko. Okay lang sa akin ‘yon,” expressed the suspect.
The wife of the victim struggles to comprehend the tragedy, especially considering her five children are now fatherless.
The family of the deceased construction worker is also being sought to provide statements. The suspect will face charges of double murder.
