Janella Salvador shared her thoughts on the mentality of some people
Kapamilya actress-singer Janella Salvador slammed Filipinos who have a prejudice against local films.
Janella is currently promoting her movie Under Parallel Skies with Thai actor Win Metawin. This served as the actress’s comeback film. She and Win had several guestings and interviews to promote the movie.
Just recently, the film’s producer Richard Juan shared a screenshot of a message from someone who expressed dislike for local films, based on the article in Inquirer.
“Di ako nanunuod ng local films sorry no time for that,” the message from that person stated. He said that he did not expect someone would say that to him and this really broke his heart.
Then, he said that this is a big challenge for Filipino filmmakers but he understands that not all films will resonate with everybody. However, it is a different thing to just dismiss all local films outright.
He also cited that people who prefer “international films” would always end up watching Hollywood films but Richard stressed that a Filipino film could also be an international film.
“Being the first Filipino romance film distributed by THE Warner Bros., many eyes globally are on us and the whole Philippine entertainment industry. Because what we have in “Under Parallel Skies” goes beyond simply showcasing actors; but it also celebrates the Filipino and Asian creativity behind the cameras,” he said.
Janella Salvador shared this post on her Instagram page. She has strong words for those who are judging Pinoy films even before they watch them. “People who think they are too good for local films,” she said.
“It doesn’t make you sound more sophisticated, just straight-up arrogant and condescending,” the actress-singer added.
Meanwhile, Janella postponed her 10th-anniversary concert titled Reimagined. Her manager explained the reason why it was moved. It was said that Janella had to fulfill her duty as a mother. Her son Jude was hospitalized and her rehearsal schedule was affected by this.
