ELLEN ADARNA – What started as an honest reflection quickly turned into a feel-good showbiz moment after Ellen Adarna reacted to Angelica Panganiban calling her “matapang.”
Ellen Adarna expressed delight over the praise she received from fellow actress Angelica Panganiban, who recently described her as “matapang.” The remark came amid discussions surrounding the highly publicized breakup of Ellen and her former husband, actor Derek Ramsay.
On December 11, 2025, Angelica appeared on journalist Karen Davila’s YouTube vlog, where she was asked to share her thoughts on the separation of Ellen and Derek. Over the years, the public has often linked the names of Angelica and Ellen due to their overlapping romantic histories. Two of Angelica’s former boyfriends later became romantically involved with Ellen.
After Angelica’s relationship with John Lloyd Cruz ended, John Lloyd went on to date Ellen. Similarly, Derek Ramsay, who was also Angelica’s ex-boyfriend, later became Ellen’s partner and eventually married her. However, after four years of marriage, Derek and Ellen also went their separate ways.
In the vlog, Angelica clarified that she and Ellen are not personally close, although they have met once before. She recalled, “I met her once. Naka-hangout ko siya. Kami pa ni John Lloyd nun. Then, may boyfriend din siya noon, e.”
Asked about her reaction to the breakup, Angelica admitted she was initially surprised. She said, “Parang, nadismaya in a way na parang, ‘O, talaga ba?’” She went on to reflect on her feelings, adding, “Noong una, hinahanap ko yung pake ko talaga nung una. ‘May pake ba ako?’ Wala naman akong pake. Pero yan nga, parang may ano lang ako na, ‘Talaga ba?’”
Angelica also joked that Ellen’s separation from Derek might open the door for a possible friendship between them. “Feeling ko, marami kaming pag-uusapan, e,” she said, before adding playfully, “Wag lang niya i-screenshot, ha. Wag lang niya i-record. Hindi pa nga ako na-invite doon sa group chat, e.”
The comment referred to Ellen’s previous revelation that she had a group chat with Derek’s exes, as well as her decision to screenshot and record certain exchanges during their conflict.
