Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez reacted to the campaign by fans to make her a National Artist.

Regine is indeed an OPM icon and with all her achievements in music, her fans think that it is already time for her to receive the National Artist Award.

Based on the article in PEP, Regine Velasquez reacted to fans’ campaign for this recognition to be given to her through the video that Kapamilya writer Darla Sauler’s Facebook reel.
The Asia’s Songbird said that right now, there are more deserving artist than her. “I don’t think I’m qualified yet but I would want Pilita Corrales as National Artist, Jose Marie Chan… Parang hindi pa, hindi ko pa yun panahon ngayon,” Regine said.
On the other hand, she appreciates the fans’ gesture for her and the support she is getting from them. However, she stressed that this is not her time yet.
“I appreciate it very much for the people na parang nagpu-push, pero huwag muna kasi parang mas maraming mas iniisip na dapat sila yung nandun, si Nora Aunor, you know what I mean?” the multi-awarded singer said. She added that these veteran stars deserve to be recognized while they are still around.
The latest National Artist for Music is Maestro Ryan Cayabyab whose music inspired different generations.
Previously, Regine Velasquez was asked about her legacy in the entertainment industry and she quipped “parang wala.” For her, her son Nate is her legacy.
