Some LGUs Declare Class Suspensions for Thursday (April 4, 2024)
WALANG PASOK – Some schools and local government units have announced class suspensions due to the rising heat index.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration forecasted high heat index levels over the past few days due to the El Niño season. The dry season brings hot and humid weather conditions throughout the country.
Various local governments and schools suspended face-to-face classes throughout the week due to the scorching heat. The intense heat brings inconvenience and discomfort to the students.
On Thursday (April 4, 2024), several areas declared class suspensions in various regions due to heat conditions. The announcement was made to ensure the safety of both students and school personnel.
Region 1
- Sta. Barbara, Pangasinan: Pre-school to high school (public and private) from April 2 to 5, 2024
- Manaoag, Pangasinan: Pre-school to senior high school (public and private) from April 3 to 4, 2024
- Urbiztondo, Pangasinan: All levels (public and private)
Region 7
- Talisay, Cebu: Public schools only from April 3 to 14, 2024. Classes in private schools will be at the discretion of school administrations.
Region 12
- General Santos City: Primary to secondary level (public and private) from April 2 to 5, 2024
- South Cotabato
- Banga: Afternoon classes only in all levels from April 1 to 15, 2024
- Koronadal: indefinite suspension of afternoon face-to-face classes, to impose blended type of modality
- Norala: No in-person classes every Tuesday and Thursday from April 3 to 12, 2024, to shift to modular way of learning
- Polomolok: Afternoon classes are suspended for all levels, public and private from April 2 to 15, 2024
- Sto. Niño: Afternoon classes suspended for all levels, public and private from April 3 to 8, 2024
- Surallah: Localized suspension of afternoon classes for all levels effective April 2
- Tantangan: Afternoon classes suspended for all levels, to adapt blended and alternative learning modules from April 1 to 15, 2024
- Tboli: Afternoon classes suspended for all levels, public and private from April 3 to 12, 2024
- Tupi: Afternoon classes are suspended from pre-school to secondary level except Barangay Miasong ES, Glandang ES and Balisong (Kablon) ES from April 3 to 12, 2024.
- Sarangani: All levels (public and private) from April 3 to 19, 2024
