Devotee Attacked During Act of Penitence in Pampanga
RELIGIOUS RITUAL – A devotee from Angeles City, Pampanga, was hospitalized after being attacked during an act of penitence.
A young man in Barangay Cayapa 2, Angeles City, Pampanga gets hurt in a violent altercation while engaging in an act of penitence. The 24-year-old victim was identified as Christian Ivan Pintoy.
The victim suffered injuries requiring immediate medical attention as he began to feel dizzy and weak. His family members, who were present at the scene, quickly came to his aid and wasted no time in rushing him to the hospital.
The two suspects turned out to be the victim’s cousins. Pintoy’s sister, Maia, revealed that her brother looked pale and had a seizure on their way to the hospital. The latter is doing better now and might be discharged soon.
Maia said that their family is grateful that the CT scan showed no fractures or internal bleeding.
“Sobrang putla na po niya. Nung papunta na po kami sa ONA, nag seizure po siya. Sa ngayon, okay na po siya, baka lalabas na po sabi ng doktor, buti na lang daw po doon sa CT scan, walang fracture o yung bleeding sa loob,” Maia Pintoy, the victim’s sister, said.
One of the suspects took responsibility for his actions and surrendered to both barangay and police authorities. He now faces charges of frustrated homicide. However, the motives behind the attack remain unclear.
The initial investigations suggested a possible family or personal dispute as the root cause, according to Angeles City PNP Station 3 investigator Police Master Sergeant Arvie Mateo.

“Hindi po masyadong malinaw yung dahilan po niya pero parang personal po yung galit,” Mateo said.
Meanwhile, Pintoy’s family is urging the remaining suspect to follow suit and surrender to the authorities. Their hope is for justice to prevail.
