Joey de Leon wants this name for TVJ
Henyo Master Joey de Leon reacted to the suggestion to name TVJ, the trio to which he belongs with Tito Sotto and Vic Sotto, as National Artists.
TVJ has been in the industry for almost five decades. Their longest-running noontime show Eat Bulaga has been airing for more than 40 years on different TV networks. They have done remarkable projects throughout their careers as a trio and even individually.
The younger generation of comedians and hosts look up to them as pillars of the entertainment industry.
In a recent Instagram post, Joey de Leon shared that there is a suggestion to name TVJ as National Artists. Then Henyo Master, known for his talent in playing with words and using puns, said that he did not like this title.
Joey prefers “FUNCTION ALL ARTISTS” and he has a reason behind this. “Eh kasi we’ve covered nearly everything—-radio, TV, newspaper, recording, movies, arts, politics, etc. pero seriously, starting today watch our Lenten offerings in EB. Thanks!” he wrote in the captain of his post featuring the TVJ photo.
In the comment section of Joey’s posts, many netizens said that TVJ deserves the National Artist title because they are already considered icons in the entertainment industry. Some said that whatever title to recognize their contribution in showbiz is a deserving tribute to them.
Meanwhile, prior to this, the Henyo Master shared a witty post about Eat Bulaga that has been running from network to network. The longest-running noontime show started on RPN, then, it transferred to ABS-CBN and eventually signed a contract with GMA. Last year, TVJ’s show transferred to TV5.
Joey commemorated the 14,000th day of Eat Bulaga. Then, he shared a funny statement about this. “We have been ‘running’ from network to network since 1979! Kaya ba we are the longest running? Ngek!” the Henyo Master said.
