Details about the DSWD Educational Cash Assistance Offer under AICS
DSWD EDUCATIONAL CASH ASSISTANCE – Here is a guide on the cash aid offer for poor students under the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation.
Undeniably, the population of students in the Philippines is one of those that occupy a huge chunk in the national population. However, many of these students are coming from financially-challenged families and they can hardly go to school without worrying about the expenses.
Meanwhile, there are entities that some Filipino students and parents may turn to. One of these is the Department of Social Welfare and Development or more popularly called DSWD.
The DSWD has launched countless programs that help the poor. One of these is the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation which include the DSWD Educational Cash Assistance. It is open for students who belong to any of the following situations:
- working students or those who have to take part-time jobs so they can support their financial needs
- breadwinners or Filipino students who take the responsibility of supporting their own studies
- children of solo parents, persons with disabilities or PWDs, and overseas Filipino workers (OFWs)
- those who are living without a family or relatives or students who do not have to a place to call home
- children of parents who have no means of earning to support the studies of their children
The DSWD Educational Cash Assistance was designed to help augment the tuition fees of the beneficiaries, purchase the school supplies, augment the transportation costs, and in paying the other school expenses.
Under the AICS cash aid offer, a maximum of three (3) children per family may be entitled to the assistance. The amount of the cash assistance may vary depending on the grade or year level of the student-beneficiary. Here are the amounts set by the social welfare department:
- Elementary Students — Php 1,000 each
- Junior High School Students — Php 2,000 each
- Senior High School Students — Php 3,000 each
- College Students — Php 4,000 each
- Vocational Students — Php 4,000 each
In applying for the cash assistance offer, there are some requirements for application as well as options for the application. Aside from the educational cash aid, under the AICS program, the social welfare department also offers a Transportation Cash Assistance.
