Netizens Want Charming Cat from Iloilo University to Become “Pest Control Officer” at NAIA

A charming cat named “Pareng Pedro” from Iloilo University was proposed as “Pest Control Officer” for the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.

A cat is a small, carnivorous mammal that is often kept as a pet. They are known for their agility, grace, and independent nature. Cats have a wide range of breeds, sizes, and colors, but they typically have soft fur, retractable claws, and sharp teeth.

They are known for their ability to hunt mice and other small animals. Domestic cats are commonly kept as pets for companionship and are often cherished members of households around the world.

A few weeks ago, the rodent sightings at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in Pasay City circulated online, and suggestions for having a “pest control officer” emerged to ensure a more pleasant experience for both local passengers and foreign tourists visiting the Philippines

However, Iloilo Science and Technology University in La Paz, Iloilo City has a pest control officer who is not only skilled but also charming and cute. The adorable feline was named “Pareng Pedro.”

In the photos, Pedro even has his ID and wears a uniform. Besides managing pests, they decided to make Pedro an officer to promote their advocacy for animal welfare and responsible pet ownership.

“We at ISAT University have a unique story to share: Pareng Pedro, our resident Pest Control Officer, is also a beloved fur ambassador promoting animal welfare and the benefits of responsible pet ownership through kapon (neutering) advocacy,” Michelle Escrivá said.

Escriv added that Pareng Pedro’s story brings good vibes to animal lovers and Filipinos concerned about pet welfare.

After Pedro went viral and received numerous likes from netizens, some jokingly suggested assigning Pedro to NAIA to help eliminate the reported rodents there.
