IVANA ALAWI – The emotional scene of Ivana Alawi and Jaclyn Jose on Batang Quiapo went viral on social media.

Jaclyn Jose passed away due to a heart attack on March 2 at the age of 60. She portrayed Chief Dolores Espinas, the corrupt jail chief in charge of the prison where Coco Martin’s character, Tanggol, is imprisoned.

During Jaclyn’s funeral at the Arlington Memorial Chapel in Araneta, Quezon City, on March 5, 2024, Coco delivered a eulogy representing Batang Quiapo. He also mentioned having had a premonition about Jaclyn’s passing.

Coco Martin and Jaclyn Jose’s last meeting was on February 28, 2024, a Wednesday, during the taping of Batang Quiapo. “Noong last taping namin doon sa [barracks], actually meron kami napapansin sa kanya na hindi namin inaasahan,” Coco said.

He explained that the scene involved Bubbles (Ivana Alawi) being set free, but Jaclyn’s character was not supposed to be sad.

 “Nagulat sa kanya yung director namin, ‘Bakit naiiyak si Mommy Jane sa eksena na hindi naman dapat? Parang out of character yung binibigay niya,’” Coco said about Jaclyn.
