Barbie Imperial has a new movie with JM de Guzman
Actress Barbie Imperial had this reaction to her kissing scene with her ex-boyfriend actor JM de Guzman in the movie 3 Days 2 Nights in Poblacion.
The romantic comedy movie is directed by RC delos Reyes. Barbie and JM had a short-lived relationship that ended in 2019. Almost five years after their separation, they are back together as onscreen partners.
In a recent interview, based on the article in Inquirer, Direk RC shared that Barbie was hesitant at first to have a kissing scene with her former boyfriend.
The actress already knew that there was a kissing scene because it was in the script and it was a vital part of the story. Barbie Imperial asked the director if it was possible to eliminate that scene.
“The kiss is an important part of the story. Barbie knew this early on because it was included in the script. She was hesitant in the beginning. I guess she felt it was too personal. She even said, ‘Direk, puwede bang wala?’” Direk RC said.
The director also shared that this project is special. He already worked with Barbie in the past, as well as, with Jasmine Curtis-Smith who is also part of the cast.
Direk RC shared that she and Jasmine worked in the movies Alter Me and Siargao under Ten17P while he and Barbie worked together in the movie I Love Lizzy under Mavx Productions.
He also said that JM is a good addition to the cast since he and Barbie still have that “romantic pull” and their history as a former couple. The director shared that he personally asked Barbie’s permission to include JM in the cast.
“I guess she was already aware of what projects JM has been doing in the years since they broke up. She must have kept track of his progress because I didn’t have a hard time convincing her. I guess more than their history, she also thinks JM is a good actor, and so she wanted to work with him again,” Direk RC shared.
The movie revolves around two best friends, Charlie (Barbie Imperial) and Gabbi (Jasmine Curtis-Smith). They grew up together in a provincial town and became apart for five years. They decide to spend three days and two nights on the party streets of Poblacion before Gabbi finally flies to Canada and lives there to rekindle their friendship.
The supposed fun weekend was disturbed by the arrival of Javi (JM de Guzman). Then, secrets were unraveled.
