Rodrigo Duterte Assumes Role as Administrator for KJC Properties, Confirms SMNI
RODRIGO DUTERTE – Former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte was named as the new administrator of Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KJC) properties.
Sonshine Media Network International (SMNI), alternatively identified by its official operational title Swara Sug Media Corporation (SSMC), is the broadcast media division associated with the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KJC), under the leadership of Filipino televangelist Apollo Quiboloy. With headquarters in Davao City and Makati, it manages a series of radio and television broadcasting stations.
Based on a report from Inquirer, the religious organization’s media branch, SMNI, announced that ex-President Rodrigo Duterte has been appointed as the latest administrator for KJC properties.
“JUST IN: Former President Rodrigo Duterte is appointed as new administrator for KOJC properties,” SMNI said in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday.
No additional information was disclosed regarding the appointment. Duterte shares a close friendship with Apollo Quiboloy, the founder of KJC and preacher based in Davao. According to the report, the announcement followed the Senate’s move to request the arrest of Quiboloy, who did not attend the chamber’s inquiry into his alleged crimes.
In a hearing held on March 5, Senator Risa Hontiveros proposed citing Quiboloy for contempt and urged the issuance of an arrest warrant against the controversial leader. Hontiveros chairs the committee responsible for Children, Family Relations, and Gender Equality, which is overseeing the alleged crimes of the church leader.
However, Senators Cynthia Villar, Imee Marcos, Robin Padilla, Christopher Go, and JV Ejercito opposed the issuance of a contempt order against Quiboloy. Villar, in a phone interview with reporters on March 7, expressed bewilderment about the accusations against her friend: “Kaibigan ko si Pastor Quiboloy. Mabait siya sa aming pamilya at nagtataka ako dyan sa case na yan, kaya medyo hindi ako masyadong naniniwala dyan sa case na yan.”
