EARTHQUAKE – The Phivolcs recorded a 5.0 magnitude quake in Davao Oriental today, March 7, 2024. Here are the details.

Following the 4.8 magnitude earthquake in Davao Occidental a few days ago, another significant quake was recently recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) in its neighboring province. According to the agency, the quake hit Davao Oriental today with a magnitude of 5.0.

The earthquake today that struck Davao Oriental, Thursday, March 7, 2024, was tectonic in origin.

According to Phivolcs, the earthquake that hit a part of Davao Oriental was located at 07.91°North, 127.10°East – 070 km North 58° East of Baganga. It had a depth of focus of 017 kilometers.

Phivolcs stated in its bulletin that damages are not expected from the said quake but there may be aftershocks. According to the quake-recording agency, Instrumental Intensity I was recorded in Tandag City in Surigao del Sur and Cabadbaran City in Agusan del Norte. The following intensities were felt in these areas:

  • Intensity II
    • Bislig City, Surigao del Sur
  • Intensity III
    • Lingig, Surigao del Sur
