Phivolcs Releases Bulletin about the Earthquake Today in Surigao Del Sur, March 1, 2024
EARTHQUAKE – The Phivolcs recorded a 4.8 magnitude quake in Surigao Del Sur today, March 1, 2024. Here are the details.
Following the 4.8 magnitude earthquake in Davao Occidental a few days ago, another significant quake was recently recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) in another province. According to the agency, the quake hit Surigao Del Sur today with a magnitude of 4.8.
The earthquake today that struck Surigao Del Sur, Friday, March 1, 2024, was tectonic in origin.
According to Phivolcs, the earthquake that hit a part of Surigao Del Sur was located at 08.73°North, 127.11°East – 090 km South 85° East of Marihatag. It had a depth of focus of 005 kilometers.
Phivolcs stated in its bulletin that damages are expected from the said quake but there may be no aftershock. According to the quake-recording agency, Intensity I was felt in Tandag City, Surigao del Sur while Intensity II was felt in Marihatag, Surigao del Sur.
