Senator Grace Poe shares her view about the NAIA Surot Issue that’s creating a loud buzz online.
NAIA SUROT ISSUE – Here’s what Senator Grace Poe said about the bed bug or ‘surot’ infestation at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.
People online crammed about the “surot” or bed bugs spotted at some of the chairs in Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA). The infestation was recorded in a video that went viral and there was even someone who suffered wounds from the bites.
People online expressed their dismay about this and at the same time, they were disgusted.
The Tourism Congress of the Philippines on Thursday encouraged the establishment to disinfect the place following the reports about the bugs found in Terminals 2 and 3. The seats were identified and were already removed permanently. Disinfection schedules were also made following the complaints online to warn other people.
The Manila International Airport Authority apologized to the victim bitten by the bugs. According to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, bed bugs are parasitic insects. They are small and flat and feed on blood of people and animals.
In a text message on Tuesday, Senator Grace Poe expressed her thoughts about it. According to her, the infestation is not just a problem here in the Philippines but also in other countries.
“That’s an issue [in] other countries as well. In France, train stations and some hotel rooms are affected. There is an increasing infestation problem,” said Poe who also noted that this is not an isolated incident.
The senator urged the NAIA management “to make it a practice to regularly check disinfect and thoroughly clean facilities”. She emphasized that cleaning and disinfecting must be a standard procedure and not just during the times of a virus outbreak or infestation.

Ewww kadiri. We’re paying taxes pero di malinis linis yung terminal
Need to do something about this bugs
Nag evolve na ang surot, ayaw na nila sa kwarto, masarming tao na kakagatin sa terminal haha.
Ang mura ng pest control.. saan na yung mga terminal fees na binabayad dyan..
Para saan pa yung tax na binabayad. Kadiri!
