PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that LPA’s trough and amihan will bring rains over some parts of the country.

On Wednesday (February 28, 2024), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The LPA’s trough and amihan will affect the country’s weather conditions.

PAGASA specialist Obet Badrina reported that the northeast monsoon will be affecting Luzon and Visayas while the trough of a Low-Pressure Area will affect parts of Mindanao.

The trough of a low-pressure area will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Caraga and Davao Region. The LPA has not yet entered the Philippine area of responsibility.

“Extra caution is advised in these areas, particularly in Caraga and Davao, as the rains may cause flooding and landslides,” Badrina said.

Currently, no weather disturbance is expected to enter the country’s vicinity until the end of February.

The northeast monsoon will bring cloudy skies with light rains over Cagayan Valley and Aurora.

Amihan will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over Metro Manila, Visayas, and the rest of Luzon.

The easterlies and localized thunderstorms will bring similar weather conditions over the rest of Mindanao.

The weather agency advised the residents in the affected areas to take precautionary measures for possible flash floods or landslides.

Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over Luzon, Visayas, and the northern and eastern sections of Mindanao will be moderate to rough. The rest of Mindanao will bring similar weather conditions.

PAGASA did not raise a gale warning over the country’s seaboard. Waves as high as 3.1 meters are expected over Luzon, Visayas, and the northern and eastern sections of Mindanao.
