Is Korina Sanchez planning to enter politics?
Rumor has it that veteran journalist Korina Sanchez is planning to run for senator in the 2025 elections.
Korina is one of the most respected broadcasters in the Philippines. She has done news and public affairs programs throughout her career. In recent years, she has concentrated more on doing magazine shows. Her Rated K show on ABS-CBN was a big hit. Eventually, she transferred to TV5 and her show was produced by Brighlights Production of Bacolod City Mayor Albee Benitez.
Later on, Korina produced her own show that is now being shown on Net25, aside from her YouTube channel.
Even without conscious intention, Korina is entangled in politics because of her husband Mar Roxas, one of the most prominent political figures in the Philippines.
In a recent article by entertainment writer Leon Guerrero in Pilipino Star Ngayon, rumors circulated that Korina Sanchez might become a politician also. It was said that she intends to run for senator.
“Totoo ba ang bulung-bulongan na tatakbo raw sa pagka-Senador si Miss Korina Sanchez?” he said in his article.
The columnist also shared that even though Korina’s current show is not what she is personally producing and is not rewarding her financially, she held on to this to maintain her image as the “Kabalitaan, Kaibigan, at Kakampi” of the people.
Meanwhile, back in 2023, Korina Sanchez said that she thought of entering politics but her husband is already in this field. “Naisip ko na ‘yan, yeah I thought about it but because Mar was into politics already I didn’t think it was necessary puwede namang bulungan ko na lang siya, di ba?” she said.
However, she said that there is one thing that is hindering her from fully committing to this and this is her time for twins Pepe and Pilar.
