On Monday (February 26, 2024), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The northeast monsoon and easterlies will affect the country’s weather conditions.

PAGASA specialist Obet Badrina reported that Northeast Monsoon is affecting Luzon on Monday and will bring light rains while the easterlies will affect the rest of the country.

The northeast monsoon will bring cloudy skies with light rains over Cagayan Valley, Aurora, and Quezon.

“Dalawang weather systems pa rin ang nakakaapekto sa ating bansa, ang northeast monsoon o amihan ang siyang nakakaapekto particular na sa bahagi ng Luzon habang easterlies naman ang magdadala naman ng mga pagkulog at pagkidlat particular sa may bahagi ng Visayas at may Mindanao,” Badrina said.

It will also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon.

The easterlies and localized thunderstorms will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over Visayas and Mindanao and the remaining parts of the country.

The weather agency warned the public of possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains and severe thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over Northern Luzon and the eastern section of the country will be moderate to rough. The remaining parts of the country will have slight to moderate surrounding sea conditions, according to PAGASA.

The weather bureau did not raise a gale warning in any parts of the country. However, due to the northeast monsoon, 3.1-meter waves are expected over the seaboards of Northern Luzon and the eastern section of the country.
