PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that easterlies will bring rains over parts of the country.

On Tuesday (February 20, 2024), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The easterlies will affect the country’s weather conditions.

PAGASA reported that easterlies will be affecting the eastern section of the country. The easterlies will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Caraga and Southern Leyte.

It will also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over the Bicol region, Northern Samar, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, and Romblon.

The Easterlies / Localized Thunderstorms will bring similar weather conditions over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.

However, the easterlies may bring fair and humid weather in some parts of the country. Generally fair weather is expected despite some chances of isolated rain showers due to the two weather systems.

The weather agency has warned the residents in the affected areas for possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains and severe thunderstorms.

State weather specialist Obet Badrina reported that the northeast monsoon is no longer affecting the country. Amihan is expected to end in the second or third week of March 2024.

“Sa ngayon hindi umiiral ang northeast monsoon o amihan, bagamat inaasahan natin base sa ating mga pinakahuling datos, bandang weekend or early next week ay babalik ang bugso ng hanging amihan,” he said.

Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over the country’s seaboard will be slight to moderate. Heights of up to 2.5 meters will prevail, according to PAGASA.

Badrina also said that no weather disturbance was spotted forming or entering the Philippine area of responsibility.
