Grieving Man Recounts Fond Memories of Four Dogs, Who Lost Their Lives in Fire
STA. CRUZ, MANILA – A man recounted the fond memories of his four dogs, who lost their lives in a fire.
Rolly Abijay, a devoted dog lover, is slowly accepting the loss of his beloved pets, who tragically perished in a fire that engulfed their home in Sta. Cruz, Manila, on Thursday morning (February 15, 2024).
Abijay shared the importance of his furry companions, Kiray, Maui, and Kiara, whom he tried to revive after retrieving them from their burning home. Another dog named Luna, given to his mother-in-law, also succumbed to the flames.
Although he attempted to enter their burning home to rescue the dogs, Abijay recounted how firefighters prevented him from doing so due to the perilous situation.
The pet owner revealed that his fur babies would eat breakfast with him in the morning. Kiray, the largest and oldest dog, had been with Abijay for five years, while Maui and Kiara had been his companions for two years.
He described the three dogs as his closest friends. Bibitbitin ko,” he said.
Aside from the dogs lost in the fire, Abijay’s entire family home was also destroyed, leaving them in need of financial assistance to start. He plans to lay his dogs to rest at the pet cemetery in Blumentritt on Friday (February 16, 2024) and then assist in rebuilding their home.
