“My Sassy Girl” of Toni Gonzaga is a blockbuster hit!
Toni Gonzaga and Pepe Herrera have captivated moviegoers and this reflects on the figures earned by the film.
“RomCom Queen” Toni Gonzaga returned to the cinema with the film “My Sassy Girl“. With her on the lead is Pepe Herrera and the other cast members Yayo Aguila, Alma Moreno, Benj Manalo, Bodjie Pascua, Boboy Garrovillo, and the late Joey Paras.
This is the Philippine adaptation of the successful South Korean film.
The adaptation was announced in 2021 and it is her dream come true to be able to portray the iconic role. She said, “Twenty years after the film was released, I’m given the opportunity to play the role here in the Philippines. I consider it as a big blessing.”
On the opening day of the film, it appeared to have a successful start as the first day earned Php 5.2 million in total opening sales. It is indeed a great film to start the month of love.
This is directed by Fifth Solomon and in the latest post of the director, he expressed his happiness as he finally added a blockbuster one in the list of the films he made.
According to Solomon, he made two films last year that did not earn big which affected him but did not become the reason for him to lose hope and stop making more. He wrote, “Ngayon with MY SASSY GIRL, i have My first ever BLOCKBUSTER MOVIE! Salamuch po ng marami sa mga procducers, staffs, artistas na nagtiwala.”
He can finally consider himself a blockbuster director because of this film. He is thankful to the fans who supported the film that remained loyal to the original Korean material. This film has also been adapted in Indonesia, United States, Nepal, and others.
