Chavit Singson is eyeing the MUP
Businessman Chavit Singson has appeared before the entertainment media to discuss his plan to buy the Miss Universe Organization.
Singson is one of the wealthiest businessmen in the Philippines. He owns a lot of properties and just recently, his aiming another one to acquire, and this time, he is aiming to be the owner of MUO.
Miss Universe is one of the most prestigious beauty pageants in the world. For many years, countries have been exhibiting efforts to send their candidates.
Many Filipinos are known for being avid pageant fans. Currently, the country already won four Miss Universe crowns, courtesy of Gloria Diaz in 1969, Margie Moran in 1973, Pia Wurtzbach in 2015, and Catriona Gray in 2018.
For many years, Pinay beauty queens had done a good job of reaching the semi-finals, and some would even reach the runners-up stage, just like Ahtisa Manalo, who was hailed as the Miss Universe 4th runner-up.
It was reported just recently that a Filipino wanted to own the MUO. Based on the article in Abante, Chavit Singson confirmed that Paula Shugart, the former Miss Universe big boss, will come to the country in January 2026 to help him negotiate his plan.
Shugart will be accompanied by another former executive of the Miss Universe Organization, Shawn McClain, to meet with Singson and help him with his plan.
During a recent interview, Singson mentioned that he is okay with losing money on the purchase of the Miss Universe Organization as long as it helps promote the Philippines.
He believed that acquiring the MUO would promote the country, especially when it comes to the tourism industry. Many people are impressed with what Chavit Singson wanted to happen, according to Abante entertainment writer Jun Lalin.
