MARRIAGE LICENSE REQUIREMENTS – Here are the documents needed in requesting for a Marriage License in the Philippines.
Getting married is not simply about two (2) people deciding to finally tie the knot. While it is the starting point, there are a lot of documents that have to be secured and a thorough process that the couple must go through on the way to their big day.
Whether it is a civil wedding or a church wedding, both the bride-to-be and the groom-to-be must have a marriage license. It is issued by the local civil registrar in the city or town where each of the couple is residing.
Undeniably, there is quite a long list of the Marriage License requirements. There are also requirements in requesting for the documents that are required to get a Marriage License.
What are the Marriage License requirements? Although the list of documents may vary depending on the town or city where the couple is residing, here are the documents that are usually part of the list:
- CENOMAR or CERTIFICATE OF NO MARRIAGE of both parties and two (2) photocopies of each (there are CENOMAR requirements you must prepare and submit to PSA to obtain this document)
- CEDULA / Residence Certificate and two (2) photocopies each
- PSA Birth Certificate and two (2) photocopies of both applicants
- Family Planning Certificate in original copy and two (2) photocopies
- 2×2 colored photos of the couple
- Marriage Counseling Certificate in original copy and two (2) photocopies
- Parental Consent if either/both parties is between 18 to 24 years old
- Parental Advise if either/both parties is between 21 to 24 years old
- License Fee – Php 500.00
- Personal Appearance of the couple
- Barangay Residency in original copy and two (2) photocopies
In case one or both parties was previously married and the marriage was annulled or terminated, a Judicial Decree of Nullity of Marriage, a Judicial Decree of Annulment, or a Judicial Decree OD Annulment Divorce must be submitted in original copy and two (2) certified copies.
Considering that there are a lot of documents that must be prepared, it is best to start processing the documents months ahead of the target wedding date.
