200-Year-Old Cauldron from Batangas Offered for Sale at P500,000

Elderly Couple in Batangas Sells 200-Year-Old Cauldron for P500k

GIANT CAULDRON – A family from Batangas is offering to sell their 200-year-old cauldron for a whopping P500,000.

The family is offering to sell their cherished cauldron for P500,000. Believed to be an antique dating back 200 years, the giant cauldron, measuring 80 inches wide and weighing 200 kilograms, belongs to Connie and Gerald Rodriguez.

According to Connie, their family has used the cauldron for generations to produce muscovado or brown sugar from sugarcane. Over time, it has been repurposed into a family swimming pool.

The cauldron’s origins trace back to the 1800s, possibly crafted during the Spanish colonial period, with markings indicating it may have originated from London, Europe.

Despite initial offers as low as P200,000, the Rodriguez family declined and stands firm on their asking price of P500,000, aiming to use the revenue to reclaim their mortgaged land and settle outstanding debts.

Recently, collector Kyle Gianan checked the cauldron to verify its age and authenticity. Despite signs of aging and rust, Kyle was astonished to confirm its genuine antiquity, notably its European origin from London, rather than being a modern reproduction from China.

Gianan deemed the Rodriguez family’s asking price fair, given the cauldron’s historical significance and condition.

Another collector, Nick Hernandez, expressed interest in buying the cauldron. Initially offering P250,000, Nick later raised his bid to P300,000, still below the Rodriguez family’s desired amount of P500,000.
