PAGASA Says LPA’s Trough and Amihan to Affect PH Weather Condition

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that a trough of a low-pressure area will bring rains over parts of the country.

On Thursday (February 1, 2024), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The Trough of the Low-Pressure Area and northeast monsoon will affect the country’s weather conditions.

PAGASA weather expert Benison Estareja reported that a Trough of the Low-Pressure Area would bring cloudy skies with scattered rains over parts of the Visayas and Mindanao. The northeast monsoon will affect a part of Luzon.

The LPA was last spotted 195 kilometers southwest of General Santos City and outside the Philippine area of responsibility. It has a slim chance of developing into a tropical cyclone.

The LPA’s trough will bring cloudy skies with scattered to widespread rains and thunderstorms over Caraga, Davao Region, SOCCSKSARGEN, Central Visayas, Southern Leyte, and the rest of Mindanao.

The northeast monsoon will bring cloudy skies with light rains over Aurora, Quezon, and the Bicol Region.

“Unti-unting hihina po iyong ating northeast monsoon, so possible over the weekend, iyong Northern and Central Luzon na lamang po iyong makaka-experience ng amihan,” Estareja said.

Amihan will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon.

LPA and localized thunderstorms will bring similar weather conditions over the Visayas.

The weather agency advised the residents in the areas to take precautionary measures for possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains and severe thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over eastern sections of Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao and the remaining parts of the archipelago will be moderate to rough.

PAGASA said that no gale warning was raised over any coastal area in the country.
