Male Passenger Warns Public Against ‘Ketchup Modus’
A male passenger warned the public against the so-called ‘ketchup modus’ after he almost fell victim to the scheme.
Rainier Ronquillo, a TikTok user, recently shared his experience of almost falling victim to the ketchup modus scheme. His post quickly went viral and garnered various reactions from the internet users.
In the video, he narrated the terrifying encounter and urged the public to be cautious of such schemes. According to Ronquillo’s account, the incident took place during rush hour on the DOTr MRT-3 while he was heading home from work with his colleagues.
As they were boarding the crowded train, he and his coworkers made sure that no one was behind him before entering. A man behind Ronquillo said that his back appeared dirty, mentioning the smell of ketchup.
Ronquillo, already familiar with such tactics, responded casually, stating it was just the smell of ketchup, stating it wasn’t the first time he encountered such a situation during his commute.
His coworkers became curious about how ketchup ended up on his back, but Ronquillo remained silent and responded carefully, as he knew that someone behind him was responsible for placing it there.
Eventually, Ronquillo felt an itch on his back, and upon scratching, he discovered the ketchup that had been placed there. He showed it to his coworkers, who were also surprised.
Upon reaching their destination, the male passenger informed his colleagues that the two individuals behind him were attempting to steal something from him.
The latter remained calm during both instances of encountering the modus operandi. However, he expressed concern that others might not handle the situation as calmly if it happened to them.
He warned his fellow commuters to be vigilant and avoid keeping valuables such as phones or wallets in easily accessible pockets.
